Complementary to Sustainability Goals

As ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) becomes the new model to evaluate companies and countries on how far advanced they are with sustainability, we are excited to advance the industry’s ESG efforts.

CTIA Certification’s voluntary best practices and certification pathways promote responsible recycling, trusted device reclamation, and greater operational efficiencies to drive differentiation, customer loyalty, and business growth for industry members. The CTIA Grading Scales standard and Authorized Service Center Program are two prime examples of programs helping businesses to achieve their ESG goals. The CTIA Grading Scales standard creates uniformity in the pre-owned device marketplace to promote the extension of device life cycle and reduce demand for new materials. The Authorized Service Center program goes above and beyond existing customer requirements and environmental regulation to add incentives for the channel to make greater strides in their sustainability efforts.

As the journey of a device can take multiple pathways, and there are many stakeholders in the supply chain who touch a single device throughout its journey, it becomes even more critical for us to continue developing the RLSQ programming and make our contribution to companies’ ESG efforts even greater. Over the next few months, our working groups will be assessing new opportunities to make an impact. One thing is for certain, through best practices in refurbishment, reclamation, and repair, we can ensure life after death for the mobile device.
